Terrestrial Invasive Species
Terrestrial invasive species are a major threat to the health of our forests, prairies, and other natural landscapes. Non-native plants and animals, such as buckthorn, spotted knapweed, and emerald ash borer can outcompete native vegetation, disrupt local ecosystems, and reduce biodiversity. These invasive species often spread quickly, taking over areas that are vital for native species. By displacing native plants and wildlife, they also impact food sources and shelter for insects, birds, and other animals.
