Forestry
Healthy forests support clean water, wildlife habitat, soil health, and long-term stewardship. Kanabec SWCD works with landowners to manage woodlands in ways that protect natural resources while meeting landowner goals.
Forest management looks different for every property and every landowner. Kanabec SWCD is available to work directly with landowners on forestry questions, management goals, and woodland health. Our staff can help identify practical management options and navigate available resources and tax incentive programs such as SFIA and 2C.

Through our forestry programs, landowners may be able to receive support with:
- Forest stewardship planning
- Tree and shrub planting
- Woodland health and management questions
- Emerald Ash Borer information and planning
- Invasive species concerns, including buckthorn
- Forestry practices that support water quality and climate resilience
- Forestry referrals and additional technical resources
Kanabec SWCD also offers seasonal forestry-related programs, including our annual Tree and Plant Sale and Tree Planter rental.
